Event Background
For 19 years, Blues on Broadbeach was proudly produced by the Broadbeach Alliance, however as Broadbeach Alliance merged with both the Surfers Paradise Alliance and Connecting Southern Gold Coast on July 1, 2020 to form Major Events Gold Coast (MEGC), the event now sits with MEGC.
MEGC's charter is to develop a portfolio of events and festivals which will attract the overnight drive market from Brisbane and the interstate traveller wishing to come to the Gold Coast for an event or festival ultimately generating Visitor Nights and promotion of our destination, as an events and festivals hub.
MEGC is committed to hosting environmentally responsible events, as such we work very closely with event partners to plan and implement festivals which reflect green event best practices.
Event Details
Twenty years after its humble beginnings, this multi-award winning festival has grown to become an event of international standing. Each year the festival remains a highlight on Queensland's calendar of events with its location fast becoming one of Australia's premier entertainment hubs.
The festival highlights the best parts of the Sunshine State, with 20 performance areas both on the stunning beachfront and throughout the vibrant streets of Broadbeach, amazing food at local bars and restaurants, with activities for all ages throughout the festival precinct.
In 2019, the event had a total attendance of just over 200,000, split 48% local, 26% intrastate and 25% interstate. The street festival was cancelled for 2020 and replaced with a 2-hour digital Facebook LIVE performance by many of the artists who were originally planned to appear. Blues on Broadbeach will be back bigger than ever to celebrate its 20th year.
Current sponsors include Tourism & Event Queensland, Network Ten, WIN TV, Triple M, The Oracle.
