The Sunshine Coast Marathon & Community Run Festival continues its support to beneficiaries with the aim to raise $200,000 every year of the event.

Competitors are encouraged to raise funds through Everyday Hero, by creating their own fund raising page when signing up for the event and seek support from their family and friends to help raise much-needed funds and awareness to the following causes, or one of your choice:

Ronald McDonald House Charities

RMHC is an independent, non-profit organisation, that helps seriously ill children and their families when they need it most. They were founded in memory of McDonald's creator, Ray Kroc, who believed in charitable works as a way of putting something back into the community. McDonald's Australia pays all administration and management costs of RMHC and are a generous donor, the rest of the essential funds they require are raised by them and community events.

Since they opened their first Ronald McDonald House in 1981 they have helped over 65,000 families and 1 in 8 Australian's have been helped or know someone who has used one of their programs.

In addition to being a world-class running event, a significant portion of profits go to organisations such as Ronald McDonald House Charities and The Westpac Foundation plus more than 70 worthwhile causes chosen by YOU the runner. Since its inception, the 7 Sunshine Coast Marathon has returned more than $2,500,000 in funds for charities and local community groups and we hope that this year is the most rewarding one yet - for both runners and charities.

With an anticipated 8000 participants expected to take part in one of the five events - the Marathon, McDonalds Half Marathon, Westpac 10km, Love & Partners 5km and the Queensland Government 2km – the festival will be a celebration of health, fitness and participation.

As a member of the Association of International Marathons & Road Races (AIMS), the Sunshine Coast Marathon will again deliver a flat, fast and scenic course that accommodates runners of all abilities and a race atmosphere that supports your personal challenge whatever that may be.

Hosting elite international athletes chasing down prize money, age groupers looking for an elusive PB, first time marathoners nervous about making the distance and community teams who are passionate about their cause, you can join them and achieve your running goals with the Sunshine Coast Marathon.
