Does the sight of tail fins and sparkle of chrome gets your wheels spinning? If so come and hang with the kool kats at Downunder Beachfest with 700 classic cars rolling into Caloundra for the festival that celebrates all things retro. The festival from 7 – 11 June celebrates all things retro with an impressive display of hot rods, classic cars and motorcycles built before 1983. Downunder Beachfest is a volunteer organised event which is in its third year with the festivities embracing the hot rod and classic car lifestyle.
The Chamber has been working with the Downunder Beachfest committee to build the program and bring something new. The Thursday night 'Welcome Street Party' will be sponsored by the Chamber and includes entertainment from Old 45's rockabilly band in Felicity Park to keep everyone's toes tapping to tunes all evening. With food and drinks, late night shopping in downtown Caloundra, cool classic cars filling the streets from 630pm to 930pm and an old school Open Air Movie playing American Grafitti, there will be something to satisfy all those who want to reminisce days gone by.
We encourage you to get participate in the festiviites next week, with lots on offer for the whole family! We would love to see your faces at the welcome Street Party on Thursday 8 June and the Show n Shine on Saturday 10 June in downtown Caloundra.
