Partnership puts QPAC on the big screen

Released By:

Today, Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) together with Principal Partner Hyundai officially 'switched on' one of two new large format digital screens on the river-facing façade of the QPAC Building.

The principal partnership, announced in September, sees QPAC and Hyundai join together in their commitment to developing cultural experiences that grow community participation in the performing arts.

Just one component of the partnership is sharing with broader audiences more about what happens inside the QPAC building via the dynamic platforms of the two new large format digital screens. These screens have replaced the existing large vinyl banners that statically informed audiences of a limited share of what's happening at QPAC.

Hyundai today handed over the keys (as they say) and with QPAC Chief Executive John Kotzas switched on the screens.

QPAC Chief Executive, John Kotzas said the partnership with Hyundai provides QPAC with greater capacity to grow and amplify performing arts experiences in Queensland.

"We say in the arts that it takes the collaboration of many to achieve something great, so we deliberately seek out meaningful partnerships that help expand our connection with community.

"Hyundai is about new thinking and new possibilities and with the provision of technology, in this instance these amazing digital screens, help us share more performing arts experiences with audiences and add to the vibrancy of Brisbane's iconic cultural precinct.

"These screens will be vivid windows into the world of performing arts and invite people outside the building to engage and experience the wonder and excitement inside," Mr Kotzas said.

Hyundai Head of Regional Operations, Terry Mulcahy, said Hyundai is proud to support the development and sharing of performing arts in Queensland.

"'New Thinking, New Possibilities' is not just Hyundai's slogan – it forms the heart of what we stand for as a brand," said Mr Mulcahy.

"Hyundai's association with QPAC demonstrates our commitment to new thinking and new possibilities in a perfect way. We're sure these magnificent new screens will help develop even greater interest in the performing arts, especially for young people, and we couldn't be more proud of this partnership."

Hyundai's partnership supports QPAC in the development of the performing arts and engaging the local community.

Under the banner of Hyundai Help for Kids, the partnership also provides valuable experiences for QPAC's youngest of audiences within its family programming across the year as well as within QPAC's dedicated Out of the Box program for children eight years and under.

The second digital screen will be operational from end of December 2016.
