Community Programs Portfolio Councillor Jenny McKay said the 2015 Sunshine Coast Art Prize New Media category was a national award open to any Australian resident working within any new media medium.
"Artworks such as digital photography, video, street art, animation and projection with a focus on innovative digital technologies are eligible for the New Media prize," Cr McKay said.
"With a total prize pool of $10,000, the Art Prize is a fantastic launching pad for new media artists from across the nation.
"Due to demand, we have extended the closing date for entries until 5pm on Monday, May 25 to allow artists more time to complete their new media artwork.
"2015 sees Council partnering with awards and organisations across the region to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Sunshine Coast Art Prize.
"With more than $125,000 in prizes, the Sunshine Coast Art Prize has grown to become one of the nation's most significant regional visual arts awards for emerging and professional artists working in a range of mediums.
The New Media category closes on May 25, with an application fee of $30 for any new media artwork. Up to 20 finalists will be chosen to be exhibited late 2015.
Entries for the 2015 Sunshine Coast Art Prize Two-Dimensional category and Sunshine Coast Landscape and Wildlife Photography Prize close on May 4.
